Wallonie: augmentation des primes à la rénovation!

Do you reside in Wallonia? Are you planning to undertake renovation work in your home? Good news: the amount of certain renovation grants is about to triple, or even quadruple very soon! Credafin explains it all to you.

As you may know, the regions, in order to encourage renovation work, do not hesitate to provide certain grants to those who apply for them. If you want to change your old window frames for new ones, for example, you are free to apply for a grant from the region in which you reside to help reduce the bill.

It remains that these grants have found too few takers in recent years. Of the 33 million released in 2017, only 19 were actually claimed. This is due to amounts deemed too low and rather considerable administrative procedures, as explained by Valérie de Bue, Walloon Minister of Housing:

“I think there is a communication problem, a procedural problem, and perhaps also an issue of the amounts being too low given the complexity of the procedure, so the idea is to increase these amounts. Anyway, the budgets are available.”

To solve this issue, the decision was made to simply increase the amount of these various grants.

A dozen grants affected

All in all, 12 grants for renovation and improving energy performance will be increased, effective from March 1, 2018.

The renovation works concerned are:

  • Insulating floors through the basement or slab;
  • Insulating walls;
  • Insulating the roof;
  • Replacing window frames;
  • Installing a heat pump;
  • Installing a biomass boiler;
  • Replacing the roof;
  • Drying out walls due to infiltration or rising damp;
  • Replacing support structures like beam floors and joisting;
  • Reinforcing or reconstructing unstable walls;
  • Adapting the electrical installation to standards;
  • Conducting an energy audit.

News that should logically please many Walloon households, especially when the Batibouw housing exhibition is in full swing!

Please note that the amount of these grants will be based on the income of the applicant(s).

If your budget does not allow you, despite the increase in grants, to undertake such renovation work, you can still consider a renovation loan. Simulate your work loan online.
